Greetings Good Friends!

Before I share some sights and sounds for Legendlore today, let me quickly take my avatar through a Crossing to get some more appropriate attire...

I'm still James from The Realm.

Much better!

SEE and HEAR LEGENDLORE in ACTION!

I hope some of you have been able to take the preview version of the game out for a test drive. If not, or if you're just like me and always want MORE, we've got a couple of Actual Play episodes to check out today.

Session Zero now available on Onyx Path's Twitch channel

Last night, Onyx Path's Twitch channel hosted Session Zero of the brand new Lengendlore live-play entitlted Lost in the Crossing. Subscribers can check out last night's episode, or tune in Fridays at 10:00 PM EDT to follow along with this journey.

RED MOON ROLEPLAYING'S LEGENDLORE ACTUAL PLAY

One of the best teams doing Actual Play recordings of RPGs is Red Moon Roleplaying, and they've also recently started a trip into the Realm in their game of Legendlore, run by our very own developer, Steffie De Vaan.

If you've been curious to hear what a session may sound likem check out this Actual Play recording, where three roleplayers are teleported into the Realm, where they must try to find a way home. Hitching a ride thrusts them straight into a missing person’s case, but all is not what it seems. ‘Into the Realm’ is an introduction to Legendlore, and used as an example of a campaign opening.

I'll be sharing other episodes and recordings as they get loaded up to YouTube or made available on the internet! I love listening to all of the similarities and differences between these and my own game session experiences!

Let's Keep it Going!

We've had an excellent first few days of this campaign, so let's keep the momentum going! Legendlore is the Little Engine that Could, and I appreciate everyone sharing their support for this campaign and spreading the word. So, please, don't forget to mention to your social circle and on your social media, and let's continue our journey toward funding and Crossing over to the Realm!

New Article: GEEK NATIVE talks with STEFFIE DE VAAN about LEGENDLORE!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Jun 05, 2020 at 08:20:08 AM

Greetings Good Friends and Terrific Travelers!

As I noted in my first update, while we've adapted to recent changes in how the world is interacting and running things, we're still far from any ongoing solutions. And, we're not just talking about Covid-19 here, different issues slide to the forefront each day, and all require ongoing effort and, sometimes, incremental change to overcome.

Andrew Girdwood at Geek Native just posted an article where he discusses some of the challenges more prominent fantasy roleplaying games have recently been confronting with developer Steffie De Vaan, and how Legendlore handles some of these issues and works toward moving things forward.

Read the article here:

Let's keep at it! Remember to share your excitement and enthusiasm in your social circles and on your social media! Let's bring as many as we can through the Crossing and into the world of Legendlore!

WELCOME TO LEGENDLORE!
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jun 04, 2020 at 11:06:30 AM

Greetings, Travelers! And Welcome to the Realm! Welcome to Legendlore!

Legendlore is a setting and system RPG book for 5th Edition fantasy roleplaying. The quick version: Legendlore is a game set in The Realm – a fantasy world full of magic and elves and orcs and enchanted items that’s connect to our world by a Crossing. When a person travels through a Crossing, they emerge as a fantasy character version of themselves. So, the fiction of the game allows you – the player – to imagine crossing over to The Realm where you become your fantasy character, whether that’s a mighty warrior, a hairfoot Bard, an elven Sorcerer, or any combination of traits, ethnicities, gender, and abilities. Characters in Legendlore represent all ethnicities, genders, and sexualities. No one in the Realm will bat an eyelash at your agender panromantic self.

So, welcome travelers!

Or, for some of you, welcome back!

That’s right – this is our second attempt at Kickstarting this project. We launched the original Kickstarter campaign for Legendlore earlier this year, in mid-March, right before the year went “Full On 2020” and the Covid-19 virus hit pandemic levels. The uncertainty and lockdown knocked the project for a loop, and the Onyx Path team and I decided to temporary halt the project so we could sort out new plans that accommodated and supported the team and our backers in the near future.

Well, that “near future” is now – Onyx Path has reconfigured their schedule for the year, and made alterations in their processes to accommodate the current situation and now we’re relaunching the Legendlore Kickstarter campaign!

The world is still “Full On 2020” and no less chaotic. While we’ve adapted to working from home and sheltering in place and social distancing, there continue to be more “serious” issues, demanding our time and attention. So, why re-launch our attempt to fund a fantasy setting for the “World’s Most Popular Fantasy Roleplaying Game?”

A few reasons:

First off, simply, because that’s what Onyx Path does. The company’s purpose is creating games and related products, and that’s what pays employees, freelancers, and helps provide work up and down the distribution chain, including distribution partners and fulfillment teams, as well as licensing partners and so on.

Secondly, but no less important, many people use these games as a break – an escape from the day-to-day stresses of our world, or an opportunity to come together to overcome challenges that can be handled in a few afternoon sessions. Relatedly, Onyx Path has long supported initiatives like the Bodhana Group, which advocates the use of tabletop gaming as a directed therapeutic and clinical practice.

The truth is that we all need something to help recharge and recover. For many of us – I’m guessing, for most of us who have checked out this Kickstarter campaign! – gaming is a chance to use other parts of our brains, overcome challenges, socialize and fortify communities, and provide an outlet to express so many of the emotions that we’ve been dealing with on a daily basis. It’s necessary fun, to allow us to persevere continue the battles happening outside the game.

So… let’s get to it!

Your humble host

As noted in my very first comment (check the Kickstarter comment section) – I’m James, your Kickstarter Concierge for this Onyx Path project. Over the next 4 weeks, we’ll crossover into the Realm and the world of Legendlore, and I’ll be using these updates to cheer our progress, spotlight some key parts and interesting sections of the game, and share some cool interviews, reviews, podcasts and additional opportunities to learn more about Legendlore and the team that brought this game to life.

If you’ve experienced previous Onyx Path Kickstarter campaigns that I’ve run, we’re going to do things a little bit different with this one. A big change, right from the start – the entire preview manuscript is available for you to download and read immediately!

Click to cross through a portal and grab the manuscript preview!

So, I won’t be revealing the manuscript chapter by chapter or in sections – the preview manuscript is available for you now. But, I will still spotlight some sections of the manuscript that will hopefully steer some daily conversation and give those curious about our Kickstarter campaign some points to reference and maybe more insight into this game.

As mentioned, I will also be sharing podcasts and interviews and reviews related to Legendlore! I’m happy to start with this special episode of the 307 RPG Podcast, where they speak with Legendlore developer Steffie de Vaan! Check it out here:

Listen to the Legendlore Episode!

So, welcome to The Realm! Welcome to Legendlore! I look forward to interacting in the comments section of this Kickstarter, hopefully to hear about some games played with the Legendlore RPG Preview manuscript, and also to answer questions about this campaign or just make terrible puns and bad jokes, or to share tales and stories.

Another place to possibly have a more in-depth rules or systems discussion (thanks to the forum nature and the big brains of posters there), the Onyx Path website forums for their Partner Games, including the Legendlore RPG: ONYX PATH FORUMS

Now, let’s start this Kickstarter campaign off right! Here’s to a strong launch and a great 4 weeks, and hopefully we’ll all get a chance to crossover to the Realm soon!
