July 2020 Update - Surveys are coming!

Hello Good Friends & Travellers,

Welcome to our regular month end updates, although there's been nothing "regular" about these past few months. Near the end of each month, I will be sending out an update, with status notes on our main project as well as the Stretch Goal project we added. As noted in previous updates, these projects take a long time to put together. You've seen the manuscript preview PDF, but there are still many moving pieces and puzzles to solve in turning this into an awesome book. These month-end updates ensure that communication is constant and consistent, and that we're all on the same page with regards to where we stand.

I will also be sending out the BackerKit Pledge Manager surveys this weekend!

But, before we begin all of that - I hope everyone's keeping safe and managing through our current times as best possible. I don't know how things will look as the world continues to change, but hoping the best for all of you.

BACKER SURVEYS

Over the next few days, you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey invitation link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts, and that won't happen until the books are printed and we're preparing to ship.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://legendlore-rpg.backerkit.com/

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at https://legendlore-rpg.backerkit.com/faq

Within the BackerKit Survey and Pledge Manager, you can:

• Upgrade your Reward Tier pledge selection
• Confirm Add On selections
• Set up payment information for any failed payments from the Kickstarter campaign or to pay for any new Add On options selected

To upgrade your reward Pledge Tier:

From the BackerKit welcome page, in reverse order, you can select Switch Your Pledge Level (lower option) immediately. Or, you can select your Pledge Level (top option) to review your reward tier and change from that screen.

An option at the top of the Pledge Information screen will allow you to upgrade your Pledge Level.

Once we've got a fair response to our survey and collected a reasonable amount of info, I'll be working on fulfilling rewards that are available now - like the PDFs of the titles included in our Add On section, (The Legendlore Graphic Novel PDFs, the Scarred Lands PDF). Expect to receive more info on those within the next few weeks or so.

Legendary Status!

Hello Good Friends & Travellers,

WE DID IT!

We funded the development and completion of a full version of the Legendlore RPG! Graphics! Editing! Artwork! Layout! All that stuff!

Not only that - thanks to your support, a new book - the Legendlore Player's Companion - has been added to the approved projects list. I can't wait for the writing team to get on that and see where they take us next!

So - here's to more awesome work ahead from the Legendlore creative team and all the writers that have made this project so engaging and inspiring!

So, thank you to all the backers who supported us and made this happen. And a personal thanks to everyone who participated online, either in the comments section of the kickstarter or on social media around the web. And a super huge thanks to developer Steffie De Vaan, who was tireless in promotion and outreach and seemingly everywhere online for the past month.

There's obviously a lot going on in the world right now - a lot of uncertainty and unknowns - but it's been really great to see the community come together to support this project and turn it into a success. The campaign gave me a lot of structure to hold on to in these drifting days, and I appreciate all of the great interactions we had during the campaign!

A minor addition to my most recent post, wherein I detailed our selection of Add On options.

Because we just added another!

Achieved! $20,000 in funding - Legendlore RPG GM Reference Screen — We’ll create a Legendlore RPG Reference Screen, which can be added on to any reward tier containing a hardcover book for only +$20.

That's right, we hit our Stretch Goal!!! That means we've got a brand new Add On option...

For only +$20, Add On a sturdy, three-panel screen featuring a collage of Legendlore art on the outer side, and a selection of charts and other reference info on the inside to make running a Legendlore game session a little bit easier.

We've got about 44 hours left to push for one more Stretch Goal! Let's see if we can get there!

At $23,000 in funding - Legendlore Player’s Companion: Brought From Earth— Help us fund a Player’s Companion for the Legendlore RPG. This PDF supplement would feature new and expanded Crossings, Legends, and Strange Things. All backers receiving the Legendlore RPG PDF will automatically have the Player’s Companion PDF added to their rewards list.

ONE MORE ART MODEL

We currently have one premium slot open for the Adopted Into The Realm reward, where you can act as an art model and see yourself become part of the game thanks to our awesome artists. Or, you know, you could also describe your character. We can make that happen as well.

FINAL HOURS: CHECKLIST & WHAT COMES NEXT

Greetings Good Friends & Terrific Travelers!

Welcome to the final hours of this campaign. What an amazing ride this project has been! These past 4 weeks have been fantastic, and this game has seen much love, enthusiasm and excitement right up until the end. We gained backers and support throughout every step of the campaign, and community we've built has been awesome.

As I prepare to post this, we are just under SEVEN HOURS from the end of this campaign, and approaching an amazing finish!

Great job, everyone!

We've had a bunch of new backers join in over the past few days (hi, new backers!), and many backers adding on to their rewards or changing their reward levels. I wanted to  review the overall method to ensure you've set up your rewards, and then talk about what comes next.

1. REWARD TIER, ADD-ONs, PLEDGE TOTAL

Please ensure you've selected the Reward Tier that best represents your desired rewards for this project. An update breaking down all of the Reward Tier decisions is HERE <link>, summarized by this chart:

There's been one super premium tier added, Legend of the Realm, so check that out if you want to contribute an idea that'll be used in the Player's Companion.

Once you're sure you've selected the correct Reward Tier, double-check to see if there are any rewards that you want to include via ADD-ON, as described in the update HERE <link>.

Your REWARD TIER determines what your base rewards are - you must select a Reward Tier to receive those rewards. Again, your reward list is based on your Reward Tier, not your total pledge amount.

Your PLEDGE TOTAL is the sum of your REWARD TIER + SHIPPING + ADD-ONs.

Shipping is calculated automatically by Kickstarter, based on your location. Add On rewards will be selected in the post-campaign pledge manager sent out once payment processing is complete.

SO: Ensure that you've selected the Reward Tier you want, and included funding for any Add Ons you wish to include. AND - make sure that you are comfortable with the Pledge Total amount, in terms of it covering everything you want and its' affordability.

And remember - any physical reward Add On (additional copies of the book or the Storyteller Screen) can only be added to reward tiers that include the hardcover book (Traveler to the Realm reward tier and higher).

AGAIN: Review your pledge amount and make sure it is affordable for your circumstances. Remember, you are pledging this amount to fund the creation of the Legendlore PDF + hardcover book. As a thank you, you'll be receiving the rewards listed for your chosen Reward Tier on the Reward Tier chart, plus any that were added via Stretch Goal. We've come a long way on this journey, but there's still a long (and exciting!) road ahead of us, so this is the last chance to turn back before we press on!

One other thing - check out the preview manuscript <LINK> which contains the complete working manuscript for the Legendlore RPG book. This is the project you've pledged to support and help turn into a finished work! Make sure that you understand what you're getting into here, as I don't want anyone to be caught off-guard thinking they were supporting anything other than turning this manuscript into an awesome version to add to your 5E collection.

I'm going to speak against my own self interest for a moment, and repeat myself one last time - the world has become a bit more unpredictable and some futures are a little less certain. Ensure that your circumstances enable to afford this pledge at this moment - Kickstarter will begin processing payments after the campaign ends and neither Onyx Path nor I have any involvement in that process. If you are unsure of your financial situation but don't want to miss out, please pledge for a tier you can afford now and know that you will likely be able to upgrade to open pledge levels in our post-campaign Pledge Manager for some time before the book is completed.

2. PAYMENT AND CONTACT INFORMATION

Once you're comfortable with your pledge, please ensure that the payment and contact information in your kickstarter account is up to date and correct. Making sure your e-mail is entered correctly and your credit card isn't expired will speed up the next step process. (I have learned from experience!)

WHAT COMES NEXT?

3. AFTER THE CAMPAIGN ENDS

First, we celebrate. Kickstarter will send out a "Hooray!" email confirming the campaign ended with final totals. We'll give high fives and fist bumps in the comments section.

Then, the Kickstarter payment process begins. Over the next week, kickstarter will begin charging your payment methods for the total amount you've pledged.

If there is an issue with your payment method (expired credit card or incorrect number or pre-paid Visa awaiting funds, for example), Kickstarter will keep trying to process payment during this time.

Once this step is done, which will likely be mid-July, Kickstarter will confirm everything with Onyx Path and I can begin to set up the project with BackerKit and link it to the Kickstarter data.

BackerKit is a robust fulfillment integration and pledge management program that will allow us to work with all of the data and distribute the rewards to you. It will take me a few weeks to set the project up. Once I've got it all entered and built, the team from BackerKit will review to ensure I didn't mess anything up too badly, and then I'll make any changes they've suggested and we can move on to the Survey stage.

4. BACKERKIT SURVEYS

Once BackerKit says I'm good to go, I will send out a survey to all backers. This is why confirming your e-mail is important!

The BackerKit survey is both a verb and a noun - it will collect data for the analysis of some aspect of a group (enabling Onyx Path to set print runs, prioritize new projects, and fine-tune future kickstarters), as well as providing a general review or summary of the reward tier you've chosen, confirm all of the rewards associated with that reward tier, and confirm your total pledge amount.

I expect Surveys to go out by early August. If you opted to include any Add-On rewards to your pledge, this is the point where you will select them. BackerKit will deduct the cost of your reward tier (+shipping) from your total pledge and show you how much you have to allocate for add-on purchases. You simply select the ones you want and proceed. From that point forward, those add-ons will be included in your list of rewards.

During the Survey period, you can also also choose to increase your reward tier. If you've gone back to work or found an alternate income source and decide it's time to trade up to get two copies of the book or include another add-on, you can do so at this time. Note, you will not be able to reduce your reward tier selection, only increase.

If there was an issue with payment to Kickstarter, you should also be able to address that at this point in the process.

The survey will ask you to confirm your shipping address, even though it'll be some time before we ship out the final product. Do not worry about moving before shipping begins - you will be able to update BackerKit right up until the point that we begin fulfilling the final book. We will send out a notice prior to lock down so you can update any information.

I'll also use the Survey to confirm some details for the limited and premium reward tiers.

5. REWARD DISTRIBUTION

This is a long process, but I will send out regular updates (usually at the end of the month) to keep you up to speed on our progress. There will be strings of updates that are just "still working on it," but I will share new artwork or information when I can.

Eventually, we will have a completed PDF of the Legendlore RPG. We'll take some time to distribute, review, and compile any errata or corrections that need to be made. When we've made any necessary changes, we'll send out updated copy of the PDFs and then begin creating print-ready files for the Print-on-Demand and hardcover version.

It's yet another long process ahead, but one that we wouldn't be on if not for your faith and support.

SIDE QUEST - Sneaking in another Stretch Goal

In my update from earlier today, I laid out our next and ultimate goal in our Stretch Goal quest:

At $23,000 in funding - Legendlore Player’s Companion: Brought From Earth— Help us fund a Player’s Companion for the Legendlore RPG. 

At $27,000 in funding - Legendlore Player’s Companion: Friends and Foes — Help us expand the Player’s Companion for the Legendlore RPG. The Player's Companion would grow and feature expanded information (including stat blocks) for important NPCs found in the Realm.

ONE STEP CLOSER!

Were we up to the challenge? OF COURSE! We did it!

ACHIEVED! - Legendlore Player’s Companion: Brought From Earth— This PDF supplement would feature new and expanded Crossings, Legends, and Strange Things. All backers receiving the Legendlore RPG PDF will automatically have the Player’s Companion PDF added to their rewards list.

And, as a bonus, we've added a Super Premium reward tier for this final day – Legend of the Realm! This premium reward tier will allow a limited number of backers to have an even greater impact in the Realm by helping to design a new heroic destiny.

SIDE QUEST

Here's the thing - Legendlore is the Little Campaign That Could. Despite being derailed earlier in the year, and challenges on our launch date, and some grumps not appreciating the welcoming and open nature of the setting and system, we've continued to grow and find backers and make this project happen.

Not only that, we've achieved 2 Stretch Goals, adding the Player's Companion, which will be rewarded to everyone getting the Legendlore RPG PDF as part of their Kickstarter rewards list!

Now, that final Stretch Goal is distant on the horizon, though I think we have the determination and fortitude to achieve that epic victory! But, I still think we deserve one more celebration! I've worked with the Onyx Path team, and we've been able to squeeze a little something in - a small side quest - to give us one more rallying point before our conclusion. 

So, sneaking in at the last minute, our side quest:

AT $25,000 in funding - Digital Wallpaper: An awesome digital wallpaper for your computer desktop featuring art from the Legendlore RPG. All backers will have this automatically added to their rewards list.

It's not a huge reward, but one more stop as we continue to "level up." I've been changing my screensaver once a week for the past month (been spending a lot of time looking at my monitor lately!), so it's a pretty welcome additional reward for me.

So, let's keep at it! Let's work toward this small side quest, a brief respite, and then see if we can rally for a strong finish!
