Well, we're in the countdown for sure now! With just 27 hours to go, we've had an amazing past few days! I'm glad to see so many new backers finding this project before we wrap it up!

With all of the new travelers joining us, I just wanted to post one big list of all of the things to check out before the end.

FIRST UP: PREVIEW MANUSCRIPT & FEEDBACK FORM

Did you know that you can read the game, at least as it stands right now, for free? That's right - a preview manuscript is currently available for you to check out. And - AND - even use to run a game.

The goal of this campaign is to help this game fulfill it's legendary destiny, helping it crossover and become it's true self. Since we've hit our funding target, Onyx Path will be able to develop the preview manuscript into the final game, but you can still help out! If you get a chance to read (and play) the Legendlore RPG, we'd love your help catching any errors or issues and speeding up the development and editing process.

STRETCH GOALS

As we increase the overall funding and support for the project, we’re able to add additional resources to the project, expand the rewards listed, and add in new offers and opportunities. Each Stretch Goal will have a target that, once reached, will add a project to the reward list.

As noted above, we've already crossed one Stretch Goal from our target list!

ACHIEVED! - At $20,000 in funding - Legendlore RPG GM Reference Screen — We’ll create a Legendlore RPG Reference Screen, which can be added on to any reward tier containing a hardcover book for only +$20.

And, with the success of the past few days, there's a chance we may hit another target!

At $23,000 in funding - Legendlore Player’s Companion: Brought From Earth— Help us fund a Player’s Companion for the Legendlore RPG. This PDF supplement would feature new and expanded Crossings, Legends, and Strange Things. All backers receiving the Legendlore RPG PDF will automatically have the Player’s Companion PDF added to their rewards list.

If you're going to go on a quest, though, why not go EPIC? We've come a long way in the past few days, but if we can keep it up, continue to reach out and invite new backers to join us, maybe we can expand that Player's Companion even further. It won't be cheap to do that, and it won't be easy, but let's add another big Stretch Goal to give us something to shoot for!

At $27,000 in funding - Legendlore Player’s Companion: Friends and Foes — Help us expand the Player’s Companion for the Legendlore RPG. The Player's Companion would grow and feature expanded information (including stat blocks) for important NPCs found in the Realm.

Another Stretch Goal, But Not Much More Time

I know these targets may seem daunting, but they wouldn't be STRETCH goals if we didn't have to really STRETCH to reach them!

So, as every update concludes: let's keep the enthusiasm rolling! Keep spreading the word and letting others know about this project. They've got this final day to jump in and share the success we've already achieved!

And every backer who joins in as we approach the end is not only able to enjoy the additional opportunities and rewards already added by the early fans and backers, but also help reward those early backers by expanding everyone's stretch goal rewards!

Remember, only the funds generated during the Kickstarter campaign go toward achieving these Stretch Goal targets, so the time to act is now! Together, we can work magic and make great things happen!

Final 48 Hours: Add On Options

We're in the final 48 hour countdown of this Legendlore RPG kickstarter project- it ends on Thursday, July 2nd at 2:00 PM EST - there's still time to recruit additional backers, but we're definitely getting closer to the finish line. With that in mind, I wanted to touch on some of the basics over the next 2 days to make sure that everyone has all of the information they need to support the project in the way that works best for them.

Whether you're just crossing over for a single adventure or embarking on an epic quest, these are good items to review to make sure that we all end up where we want to be.

(An aside, if you're a new backer, make sure you check out the FREE MANUSCRIPT PREVIEW that is currently available. You can read the entire game before the campaign closes!)

Today, I am going to talk about ADD ON reward options. On Thursday, before the campaign finishes I will post an update with a Final Checklist & What Comes Next.

First Step: Reward Tier

The absolute best way to ensure that you're getting all of the available rewards you want from this kickstarter is to ensure you've selected the appropriate Backer Reward Tier, as detailed in our Reward Tier Update. Selecting the right Reward Tier covers about 95% of the options available to you. If you want the PDF only, make sure you've selected the correct reward. If you want the hardcover version, double-check your reward tier to ensure it's featured. If your going digital now but want the option of getting a discounted Print-on-Demand copy later, make sure you've got a reward tier that includes it.

Once you've completed that important step, you're going to want to look at the Add On rewards for any reward "bits" that don't automatically fall into your reward tier. That takes us to the Add On step.

Step Two: Add-Ons.

If you've selected one of the "core" Reward Tiers, you've likely already included most of the rewards you want. In addition to the rewards offered as part of the Reward Tier configurations, there are a few other possible rewards you may wish to add. All Add-On rewards will be described below.

Each add on includes an extra amount to add on to your total pledge amount. Remember that your total pledge amount includes all shipping charges and not just your reward tier level.

Using myself as an example, my TRAVELER TO THE REALM Reward Tier is a $50 pledge, and since I live in Canada, Kickstarter automatically adds on an additional +$45 to cover shipping.

In reading, listening, and watching the countless interviews and discussions that Legendlore developer Steffie De Vaan has participated in over the past few months, my regular gaming group is eager to mix it up a bit and either have our characters travel to The Realm via a Crossing, or to maybe start an all-new Legendlore campaign from Level 1. 

While we primarily use PDFs to reference character stuff at home and when we play online, we usually have a couple hardcovers to reference at the table. And since I hope we can all sit around a table together at some point in the near future, I've decided to change my pledge to get 2 copies of the hardcover. And maybe some additional rewards.

The first step is to change my pledge to the correct reward tier. On my PC, the button I'm looking for is this one:

On the mobile app, it's a little sleeker:

And that brings up my current Pledge Tier reward choice and allows me to investigate my options.

So, it's time to CHANGE MY PLEDGE. On my PC, I select the Change Your Pledge button, while in the mobile app you select the three little dots in the top left corner to present options.

I can scroll down or read the kickstarter rewards page to review the list of rewards with my Tier. I've decided to get two copies of the hardcover Legendlore book. Reviewing the Reward Tier chart, I see that the Purveyor of Books tier includes 2 copies, so that's what I'd like instead.

Once I've selected this reward, it displays the Total Pledge Amount before confirming.

So, my Total includes my Pledge Amount for my reward tier (the minimum is $95 that covers the PURVEYOR OF BOOKS reward tier) plus shipping if required (+$45 in this case). 

Before I hit confirm, though, I know that there's one more change I want to make. While I did read some of The Realm comics back in the ancient days, it's been a long time and I certainly didn't managed to collect very much of the run at the time. With a look forward to running a game set in the world of Legendlore, and - to be fair -  lots of extra time on my hands lately, I've decided I want to add research material to my pledge in the form of comic book PFDs!

By adding +$24 to my total pledge, I can add 3 of the Legendlore graphic novel PDFs to my list of rewards. I adjust my total Pledge Amount to account for this add on:

So, I've selected the Reward Tier that works best for me - the Purveyor of Books - which includes

•  Legendlore RPG PDF (x2 redemptions)
•  Legendlore RPG Hardcover (x 2 copies!)
•  Legendlore Print-on-Demand Option
• Full Access to the Pledge Manager

And then I adjust my total pledge amount to include additional funding to cover my Add On options:

• 3 Legendlore Graphic Novel PDFs for +$24 

And, since I'm pledging for physical rewards, Kickstarter adds automatic shipping charges for Canada

•  Shipping to Canada +$45 

My total Pledge Amount is $164. Note that this is in US dollars (you can see it's about $224 Canadian, but the final exchange rate will depend on when the payment is processed once we conclude the campaign).

When I've got everything accounted for, I hit continue for one last review.

If it looks good, I click Confirm (or Updated Pledge or Continue, depending on your browser and interface).

It's important to note that there is NO PLACE in your kickstarter reward tier pledge to indicate which add-ons you wish to include, or give any reason why you are adjusting your pledge to a new amount. You aren't adding items to a shopping cart in this scenario - instead, you're adding pledge dollars that you will assign once the campaign ends. With this in mind, you may want to make a note of which add-on items and the associated add-on dollar amounts you've included if you're forgetful like I am.

About a month after the campaign has ended and Kickstarter has processed your payment, I will send out a survey via Backerkit - a complex system of tools used to manage the back-end of the kickstarter fulfillment process. When you receive the survey, you will confirm your Backer Reward Tier and assign your pledged dollars to any add-on items that you wish to include. I'll repeat and expand on this information in an upcoming post about "What Happens Next?" in Thursday's update.

DIGITAL REWARDS

In addition to the rewards listed in each Reward Tier, backers can increase their overall pledge to add on the following additional rewards. Simply increase your total pledge amount by the value indicated – we will confirm which add on rewards you’ve chosen via BackerKit surveys after the campaign has run, as mentioned.

Another use of your PDF redemption code to share with a friend. Multiple copy reward tiers (such as the Purveyor of Books tier) automatically gain additional redemption uses as part of their reward.

For only +$10, Add On a PDF copy of the Scarred Lands Player's Guide (5E) to your rewards list. While unrelated to Legendlore, the Scarred Lands setting is another excellent 5E product from Onyx Path ready to add to your digital gaming collection.

Legendlore started as a comic book, and now our partners at Caliber Comics have made the graphic novels available to the Legendlore RPG kickstarter backers as Add On rewards, to be fulfilled by DriveThruComics.com.

Legendlore V1 - The Realm Chronicles Graphic Novel PDF collects The Realm – Volume One issues 1-5; 153 pages.

Legendlore V2 - The Realm Chronicles Graphic Novel PDF collects The Realm – Volume One issues 6-7, and the Tales of the Realm mini-series that depicted Lord Darkoth’s assault on the Rainbow Elf Kingdom; 180 pages.

Legendlore V3 - The Realm Chronicles Graphic Novel PDF collects The Realm – Volume One issues 8-11; 138 pages.

 PHYSICAL REWARDS 

All physical items that will require shipping (additional books) can only be added to reward tiers that already include a hardcover copy of Legendlore RPG (Reward Tiers of $50+). Your rewards will be sent in a single shipment when the book becomes available.

For only +$45, add an additional hardcover copy of the Legendlore RPG to your rewards list. U.S. Residents only.

For only +$65, add an additional hardcover copy of the Legendlore RPG to your rewards list. Non-U.S. Residents only.

For only +$30, Add On a hardcover copy of the Scarred Lands Player's Guide (5E) to your rewards list. This reward will be sent at alongside your Legendlore RPG hardcover when that reward is complete and ready to go.

REWARD DELIVERY

With the exception of Legendlore and the Scarred Lands Player's Guide hardcover, all of the Add On items are currently available in PDF form. About a month after the campaign has ended, I'll launch our post-campaign Pledge Manager to collect information from all backers and confirm which rewards you'll be receiving. At this point, you'll also confirm which Add On Rewards you've paid for. Once we have that information, I'll be sending special redemption links to claim your digital rewards from our partners at DriveThruRPG.com. Clicking these redemption links will allow you to add these PDF titles to your digital library to download anytime.

So, while it will take some time for Legendlore to move from it's manuscript form to a final product, you won't be waiting a year for PDFs that already exist. (You'll be waiting about 6 weeks or so, just enough time for us to set up the reward infrastructure.)

Physical Books

It's going to take some time to create the PDF for Legendlore and even longer for the eventual print run. When the book is at the printer, I will be in touch with all kickstarter backers and go over lockdown procedures and confirming addresses one final time.

Don't fret if you had forgotten to increase your pledge amount to cover an Add On by the end of the campaign. These Add Ons will be available to select in our post-campaign Pledge Manager for those who participated in our campaign and have full access to the Pledge Manager. So, if you are undecided at this time, you will be able to hold off until we're closer to the final reward shipment goes out.

Add Ons AFTER Reward Tiers

Again, your first step should always be choosing the proper reward tier. If I had simply added a second copy of the hardcover to my initial Traveler to the Realm pledge, I'd have paid more and received fewer rewards. So, please review your reward pledge tier first and then proceed to add on top of that.

It probably goes without saying that all funds are expressed in US Dollars, although Kickstarter displays the approximate conversion rate.

It Adds Up!

That should explain the process of Selecting your Reward Tier and increasing your TOTAL PLEDGE AMOUNT to account for any additional rewards you wish to receive. Since increasing your pledge amount increases the overall funding level of the project, add-ons can help us achieve our funding target, so it benefits us all to suggest that you double-check to make sure you're getting all of the rewards you want.

Additionally, this may go without saying, please review your personal budget and ensure you've selected the appropriate reward tier and add ons for your current financial situation. Kickstarter will begin charging your payment method once the campaign ends, so ensure you've budgeted correctly.

Conclusion

As we move through these final days of the campaign, please ensure you've chosen the correct Reward Tier for the rewards you want. And beyond that - please make sure you've adjusted your TOTAL PLEDGE AMOUNT to include the additional funds that will cover any add-ons you wish to receive.

On Thursday, just before the campaign ends, I will send an update detailing the steps that occur after the campaign concludes, including how and when to confirm your add-on rewards.

BACKER REWARD TIERS

Like it says right at the top of the campaign page, we've come together to help create a fully developed (and illustrated) PDF and traditionally printed game book featuring adventures in The Realm in the form of the Legendlore RPG. To borrow an analogy that I've used in past Kickstarter campaigns, this works similar to the "Viewers Like You" support campaign from your local Public Broadcasting Station (for those who get American television channels or watched Sesame Street in the pre-HBO era): There are various levels of support that you can pledge to, and these come with various levels of rewards offered as a thank you. Like getting a tote bag or t-shirt when you give money to public broadcasting to fund them doing their thing, you can get rewards for helping Onyx Path work on this project.

Let's review the Backer Reward Tiers to ensure that you've pledged to a Reward Tier that provides all the rewards you wish to receive.

Deciding Your Destiny: Digital Only or Hardcover + PDF

The main reward offered in this campaign is, of course, the main goal of the entire proposition: the Legendlore RPG rulebook. The first decision you need to make in figuring out your reward tier is whether you want to receive a digital PDF version or if you want the hardcover book.

PDF ONLY REWARD TIERS:

• DIGITAL TRAVELER
• FIRST TIME TRAVELER

These are PDF-only reward tiers. So, if you're saving trees or saving shelf space - or avoiding the shipping charges that seem to be ever-increasing - these are the reward tier options that you should begin with. The PDF will be fulfilled by our partners at DriveThruRPG.com - when it is ready, you will receive a link to add it to your DTRPG library and be able to download at your leisure.

HARDCOVER+PDF REWARD TIERS:

• TRAVELER TO THE REALM
• PURVEYOR OF BOOKS
• LIBRARIAN OF ISLIADRIL
• EXPERIENCED TRAVELER
• SEASONED TRAVELER
• ADOPTED INTO THE REALM

These reward tiers include the traditionally-printed hardcover version of this book. That means the books are produced in a larger print run at one time, and will have the best production values, from color clarity and appearance to binding and materials. In addition, these options also include the PDF version, so you will get a digital copy as described above.

And, yeah, there's also the OLARDELLIAN TRADER Retail Tier if you're a pre-approved retail backer!

The only Reward Tier that does not include the PDF version of the book is the GOOD FRIEND tier. You should select this Reward Tier if you want to support the project and maybe participate in the Pledge Manager but do not currently wish to receive either a PDF or hardcover version of the final book.

You'll note that the middle column - Access to Pledge Manager - is included in ALL reward tiers. That's one of the perks of participating in this kickstarter campaign!

PLEDGE MANAGER ACCESS - After the campaign is over we'll launch BackerKit, our post-campaign pledge manager, and invite the backers to set up their rewards via survey. This allows you to confirm your pledge and add on anything that you might have missed, as well as possibly increasing your pledged reward tier, should you choose to expand your reward selection. This option will give international backers additional time to investigate shipping options, should they choose, knowing they can confirm a physical reward at a later date. Funding collected in BackerKit after the campaign does not count toward any campaign Stretch Goals, however.

Choosing Your Reward Tier

There has been some churn over this past week - a few Reward Tier adjustments and changes by backers, as budgets changed and people have seen the game in play. In these final days it's best to ensure that you've selected the Reward Tier that offers you the options and rewards you want to receive and are ready to lock down. This timing - before the campaign ends - is the absolute most affordable and inclusive these rewards will be, and will save headaches and heartbreaks if fully considered now.

WAIT! What about special reward tiers?!

Right! In addition to our "core" Reward Tiers, we've got another area for consideration. These are the Premium Rewards.

Multiple Copies

If you are backing for yourself and a friend (or just want a second copy for your collection), the PURVEYOR OF BOOKS Tier was designed for you. If you're the point person for your entire gaming group (or just really really like Legendlore, no judgements!), then the LIBRARIAN OF ISLIADRIL Tier gets you five copies of the book.

And, if you are a retailer interested in making this available in your store, a special retailer tier, the OLARDELLIAN TRADER tier is open to you upon prior approval from Onyx Path (please email [email protected] prior to selecting this reward to confirm your status).

As noted on the main page of our campaign, shipping outside the US has gotten quite expensive. Splitting the shipping cost across multiple copies in a single shipment is one way to bring the cost per book down, if you're able to coordinate your backing and delivery with friends.

Premium Reward Tiers

These special reward tiers offer some enhanced interaction with the setting, from submitting a name that will be used for a NPC  worked into the setting, getting an insert signed by as many of the creative team as we can manage, or the opportunity to submit reference photos and serve as an art model for an interior illustration.

These options are extremely limited. If you were interested in a premium reward tier that is completely accounted for, keep an eye on them during the final days of the campaign, as there is sometimes movement that opens them up as we approach the conclusion.

Summary

So, with all of that said - consider your Reward Tier selection. Are you backing to receive your copy of the PDF or hardcover version of Legendlore RPG? Did you jump on one of the limited premium reward options?

Make sure your Reward Tier matches what you're looking for - or, at least, covers most of what you're interested in. On Tuesday, we'll cover Add Ons and talk about how to tweak your Reward List to ensure you're getting anything that might be missing from your list.

Hello Good Friends!

We're in our final week of this campaign, and the tireless Steffie De Vaan is still out talking to everyone about this game and making sure all gamers are aware of this excellent campaign. I'm already impressed by the work Steffie and her team have done on this manuscript for this book, but also super impressed by how great Steffie has been at sharing the ideas, outlook, and inspiration behind this game with so many curious parties. She's done fantastic outreach, and I'm very happy to be able to support her on this project!

I listed a ton of articles and interviews in my previous update, but we've managed to sneak a few more in during this final week.

In one of the articles that I shared last time, Egg Embry had talked with Steffie back during our first attempt at launching this project, just after the pandemic shut us down. Over this final week, I'll be posting some general kickstarter info about this campaign. Tomorrow, I'll be talking about the Reward Tiers, and working to make sure everyone is pledged to the tier they are most interested in and getting the rewards they're looking for.
